Our purpose is to help students realize their full potential by systematically developing strong foundations in reading, writing, mathematics, science, history, computer science, art, music, and design. Our vision is to create a STEAM school system that empowers and inspires the engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and artists of tomorrow.
Dexter was designed for students that love to paint, sing, draw, build, code, and make. It’s a school for the artists, engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Our kids are kind, smart, funny, and they want to learn. Dexter is a place for gifted and talented students to thrive and fully realize their potential. Through Dexter, students can become the shapers and changers of their generation.
Dexter is a Pre-K thru grade 12 school. Our preschool program accepts students into the enrollment process at the age of 4.
Dexter aligns with TEKS standards, and we follow the Core Knowledge Curriculum Series™, which provides comprehensive, content-rich learning materials based on the Core Knowledge Sequence. The Core Knowledge Sequence is a detailed outline of recommended content knowledge and skills to be taught in language arts, history and geography, visual arts, music, mathematics, and science. The Sequence complements the general skills and objectives typically found in state and local curriculum guides, along with knowledge-based learning. Knowledge-based schooling puts the emphasis of early education on teaching and learning an enabling core of broadly shared knowledge—enabling because it builds strong foundations for later learning and opens doors to effective participation and mutual understanding in the wider society.
Currently, we do not offer sports. We are looking to implement a tennis and cross country program next school year. At this time, we do offer a standard Physical Education class.
